Privacy Policy

Kraken is a game launcher and new-tab dashboard, available as a desktop app and a Chrome extension, and published by Rendom at gamekraken.com. This policy explains what information Kraken collects, why, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at info@rendom.net.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account or sign in, we receive:
- Email sign-up: your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see them.
- Google: your name, email address and profile picture.
- Steam: your Steam ID. Steam does not share your email address.
- Epic Games: your Epic account ID and display name. Epic does not share your email address.
Connected game sources. When you connect a platform to show your games in Kraken, we store what that connection needs to keep working:
- Steam: your Steam ID, used to read your public game library.
- Epic Games: a token that lets Kraken read your Epic game library, together with your Epic account ID and display name.
These are saved in your Kraken account so your library stays in sync across your devices. You can disconnect a source at any time in Settings → Game Sources, which removes its stored credentials.
Settings. Your dashboard layout, widget settings, game collections and preferences are saved in your account or on your device.
On your device. Kraken keeps a local cache of game data, images and settings so it starts quickly.
Website analytics. On gamekraken.com, we use PostHog to count visits, understand referral and campaign sources, and measure link clicks such as visits to the Chrome Web Store. We use cookieless analytics: the website does not store analytics cookies or local storage, create visitor profiles, or record sessions. PostHog uses technical request data to calculate daily visitor counts and removes IP addresses from analytics events.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell your information.
How we use information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To show your game library, news, deals, streams and other dashboard content.
- To sync your settings between the desktop app and the extension.
- To respond when you contact us.
Services we rely on
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting), which stores your account and settings.
- Sign-in and library providers you choose to connect: Google, Steam and Epic Games.
- Game information services, called without your personal information, to show game details, artwork, prices, news and streams. These include IGDB, SteamGridDB, IsThereAnyDeal, Twitch, YouTube, Reddit and speedrun.com.
- PostHog for cookieless website analytics.
Each provider has its own privacy policy for the data it processes.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account information until you delete your account. To delete your account and the data stored with it, email info@rendom.net from the email address on your account, or tell us which sign-in you use. We delete account data within 30 days of a verified request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to how it is processed. To use these rights, contact us at info@rendom.net.
Children
Kraken is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase. No service is completely secure, but we limit what we store to what Kraken needs to work.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
